Abstract

Climate change has direct impacts on the design and performance of building envelopes, necessitating new approaches in the discipline of architecture. In this study, a bibliometric analysis was conducted to understand the effects of climate change on glass façade systems. The 612 academic publications obtained from the Web of Science database were analyzed through R Studio Biblioshiny. Within the scope of the study, publication trends, key themes, prominent authors, institutions and geographical distributions were evaluated in detail. According to the findings of the research, it was indicated that research has gained momentum especially after 2016, focusing on themes such as energy efficiency, thermal comfort, smart glass technologies and carbon neutrality. In addition, performance changes in glass facades were associated with climatic parameters such as material strength, visual comfort, humidity and solar radiation. The countries producing the most publications are based in the Far East, namely China and Hong Kong. The journal with the highest number of studies is Energy and Buildings. Li D. and Yang H. are the authors who produced the most publications, and Hunan University (China) is the institution that produced the most publications. In conclusion, this study provides a comprehensive framework for how glass facades may shape the future in the context of climate change.
